Core Beliefs
The following are the core beliefs of Cornerstone Church of Amarillo based on the foundational truths taught in the Bible. All of our teaching and ministry is rooted in and flows out of these Biblical doctrines.
The Bible
We believe the Bible to be the inspired, the only infallible, authoritative Word of God.
God
There is one eternally existing God who has three distinct persons: God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit. He is the Creator of all that exists, both visible and invisible, and is therefore worthy of all glory and praise. God is perfect in love, power, holiness, goodness, knowledge, wisdom, justice, and mercy. He is unchangeable and therefore is the same yesterday, today, and forever.
Jesus
We believe in the deity of our Lord Jesus Christ, in His virgin birth, in His sinless life, in His miracles, in His substitutionary and atoning death through His shed blood. We believe in the bodily resurrection of Christ, in His ascension to the right hand of the Father, and in His personal return in power and glory. We believe that Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today and forever, and that the church is to continue His teaching and His works in His Name.
The Holy Spirit
We believe in the present ministry of the Holy Spirit by whose indwelling the Christian is enabled to live a Godly life. We believe in the Baptism in the Holy Spirit with the sign of speaking in tongues. The gift of the Holy Spirit is for every born again believer and empowers the believer to be a witness of Jesus.
Healing
We believe in healing in the atonement.
Salvation
We believe in salvation by grace through faith in Jesus Christ, and that salvation includes wholeness for man's spirit, soul and body.
The Church
The Church is meant to be the visible body of Christ, sent into the world to glorify God and proclaim the Gospel of Jesus Christ. We believe in the spiritual unity of believers in our Lord Jesus Christ.
Resurrection
We believe in the pre-tribulation rapture of the church. We believe in the resurrection of both the saved and the lost; they that are saved unto the resurrection of life and they that are lost unto the resurrection of damnation.
